Ammon News - The Higher Population Council revealed in its report on the current marital status of Jordanian men and women that polygamy among Jordanian men is a rare occurrence.
The council said on Sunday that only around 1.3% of married Jordanian men have more than one wife, totaling approximately 39,000 married men.
It added that the low rate of polygamy in Jordan is partly because men who marry a second wife often divorce their first wife beforehand, leaving them with only one spouse. As a result, having one wife remains the dominant marital pattern in Jordan, and polygamy remains uncommon.
