Ammon News - The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and its directorates began distributing Hajj permits on Sunday for the upcoming 1447 AH season.
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalayleh previously announced that Jordan’s Hajj quota for the season stands at 8,000 pilgrims, in addition to 4,500 pilgrims from the Arab territories occupied in 1948.
Speaking at a press conference last Tuesday, Khalayleh said that applicants born on or before March 31, 1954, were selected. He added that a lottery was conducted to choose 1,300 pilgrims from nearly 28,000 citizens who registered electronically and were born in 1980 or earlier.
The minister also stressed that Hajj visas will not be issued to individuals suffering from organ failure, neurological or mental conditions affecting cognitive ability, dementia, late-stage pregnancy, active cancer, or infectious diseases.
