Exports to Syria Surge 341% in 10 Months

Ammon News - Trade relations between Jordan and Syria recorded notable growth over the last ten months of this year, driven by the resumption of commercial activity and a marked increase in bilateral trade flows.

According to foreign trade data issued on Wednesday by the Department of Statistics, the value of Jordan’s national exports to the Syrian market rose to JD 203 million, compared with JD 46 million during the same period last year, representing a significant increase of 341.3 percent. The surge reflects growing Syrian demand for Jordanian products.

Jordan’s imports from Syria reached approximately JD 75 million, up from JD 51 million in the corresponding period last year, marking a growth rate of 47.1 percent.

As a result, total trade volume between the two countries amounted to JD 278 million during the last ten months of the current year, compared with JD 97 million in the same period last year.

Jordanian exports to Syria are primarily concentrated in construction-related industries and building materials, including cement, steel, marble, tiles, paints, and pipes, in addition to electrical equipment, as well as food, agricultural, and chemical products. Petra
