Ammon News - The Audit Bureau's 73rd report for 2024 revealed that tens of millions of dollars in foreign grants allocated for local projects have had disbursement rates of -zero or very low-.
According to the report, which was reviewed by Ammon News, inquiries submitted through the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to the relevant beneficiary ministries and departments identified several reasons behind the failure to disburse these grants or the weak spending levels. These included shortcomings or delays in preparing technical studies, the absence of ready project designs, contractor delays, and obstacles related to land acquisition.
Actual foreign grants for 2024 decreased by JD19 million, or 2.6%, as a result of a decrease in these and other grants totaling JD64 million, compared to the receipt of grants amounting to JD45 million, the report showed.
Foreign grants constituted 7.5% of total public revenues for 2024.
