Ammon News - Military and strategic expert Nidal Abu Zaid said that the joint military operation that began in Syria against the remnants of ISIS pockets was expected, and it bears the name "Hawkeye Strike", after the December 13 attack resulted in the death of two American soldiers and a civilian translator.

Abu Zaid explained that the ISIS terrorist organization reproduced itself in the Syrian desert in Al-Thuraya, Al-Sakhna and Sharq Mar after the fall of the former Syrian regime. The organization took advantage of the collapse of the former Syrian army and rearmed itself, which posed a danger to Syria and its neighboring countries.

Also, Abu Zaid pointed out that the threat is not only to Jordan but also to Iraq, and that the most prominent outcome of the Amman Quintet meeting held in March 2024 regarding Syria was a joint operations room to ensure the stability of Syria, which explains the statement of the US Central Command that Jordanian Air Force fighters participated in the operation, along with US fighter jets, attack helicopters and heavy artillery, in addition to an Iraqi airdrop in a joint attack to undermine the logistical and military capabilities of ISIS.
