King honors Ammon's publisher, editor-in-chief Samir Alhyari

Ammon News - The publisher and editor-in-chief of Ammon newspaper, Samir Alhyari, was the first honoree honored by His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday during his visit to the city of Salt in Balqa Governorate.

His Majesty bestowed the Silver Jubilee Medal on individuals and institutions in Balqa, in recognition of their contributions in service of Jordan, especially the local community in the governorate.

This came during His Majesty's meeting with figures and representatives from Balqa at the Military Retirees Club building, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein.

Alhyari is the founder and publisher of Ammon News Agency, established in 2007. He has been a member of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate since 1984 and the Union of Arab Journalists. Additionally, he hosts the “Zero Distance” program on Radio Noon.

His career at Al Ra'i newspaper spanned 40 years, during which he held numerous roles, including Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Editorial Board, Editor-in-Chief, Assistant Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Director, Head of the Localities Department, Head of the Delegates Department, Head of the Youth Department, Editorial Secretary, Local Affairs Editor, and Advisor.

Alhyari served on the Board of Directors of the Radio and Television Corporation from 2004 to 2006 and held additional roles within the organization. He was also a media advisor to the President of the University of Jordan, Chairman of the Freedoms Committee of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate, and a member of the Al-Hussein Prize for Journalistic Creativity committee within the same syndicate. Additionally, he represented the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate as a member of the Freedoms Committee of the Professional Syndicates Association from 1994 to 1996. Alhyari was also a member of the Greater Amman Municipality Council and chaired its Cultural Committee.

Alhyari also a co-founded the Arab Press Agency and served as managing editor of Saudi Al-Manar magazine and Monday magazine, correspondent and bureau chief of Okaz newspaper from 1984 to 1990, and Arab affairs editor of the same newspaper, in addition to working as a correspondent for Al-Madar magazine, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Al Majalla magazine, and Sayidaty magazine.

He have a bachelor's degree in journalism and media in 1984 from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.
