SSC launches protection policy to promote safe work environment

10-12-2024 03:33 PM

Ammon News - The Social Security Corporation (SSC) has launched a new protection policy and reporting mechanism in collaboration with the Tawazon project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The initiative, announced on Tuesday, aims to ensure a work environment free from violence, harassment, and bullying while safeguarding the mental and physical well-being of employees.

Mohammad Tarawneh, the SSC’s Director General, highlighted that the policy aligns with the corporation’s strategic plan for 2023-2027, which focuses on creating a positive and efficient workplace.

The new policy is also in line with Jordan's royal modernization vision and adheres to international human rights agreements, emphasizing a commitment to a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees.

"The policy aims to create a harassment-free workplace, address misconduct, and promote respect and professionalism among employees," said Tarawneh. He further explained that the policy details roles, responsibilities, and procedures for protecting employees from misconduct, ensuring accountability, and encouraging a diverse and respectful workplace culture.

To ensure effective implementation, the policy includes the establishment of a dedicated body within the SSC's organizational structure, staffed with trained personnel. A new reporting mechanism integrated into the SSC’s digital systems will provide employees with a confidential and transparent way to report incidents, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to sustainability and administrative accountability.

Lane Mears, USAID Director for the Office of Democracy, Rights and Governance, noted that the initiative supports Jordan’s economic modernization and governance reform efforts. "By promoting an inclusive work environment, we are helping Jordan meet its development goals and set a regional standard for gender justice and institutional modernization," she said. Petra
