Ammon News - A workshop titled "Enhancing Inclusive Employment Opportunities in the Industrial Sector" was held to advocate for inclusivity and greater women’s participation in Jordan’s industrial sector, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision.
The event was organized by the Enhancing Green Activities in Industrial Facilities (GAIN) and Women’s Political and Economic Participation in the Middle East and North Africa (WoMENA) projects.
The workshop is part of two projects implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It brought together experts, industrial sector representatives, and stakeholders focusing on fostering inclusivity and equality.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, the workshop emphasized the importance of applying diversity and inclusion strategies in industrial workplaces to enhance gender equality. These strategies were presented as critical tools for driving economic growth and boosting the sector’s competitiveness.
Participants addressed challenges to implementing these strategies and explored opportunities for developing supportive policies. The discussions included regional success stories and inspiring case studies from Jordan, Egypt, and Tunisia, focusing on creating inclusive work environments.
The workshop also featured representatives from the Ministries of Environment, Industry, Trade, and Supply, along with members of the Jordan and Zarqa Chambers of Industry, industrial business owners, and civil society organizations.
Sessions highlighted the obstacles faced in adopting diversity-friendly policies, lessons learned from previous experiences, and practical recommendations for fostering more inclusive work environments.
Participants concluded that enhancing diversity and inclusion in industrial facilities is not just a social imperative but also a strategic approach to achieving sustainable economic growth and improving productivity. Petra
