Ammon News - Professor of Astrophysics and Space Sciences at Balqa Applied University, Dr. Ali Taani, explained the reason for the appearance of white lines in the Jordanian sky on Monday, explaining that it is a "white ribbon cloud" that appeared on the eastern horizon, and many people saw it in several areas of Jordan.
Taani told Ammon that the reason for the appearance of this ribbon cloud is the condensation lines resulting from aircraft, as this cloud appears as a result of a jet aircraft passing at a high altitude.
During the operation of engines, water vapor is produced due to the combustion of fuel, and when these gases interact with the cold, humid air at high altitudes, the water vapor quickly condenses, forming ice crystals that appear as white smoke or white lines in the sky, he added.
He stressed that this phenomenon is common, especially during sunrise or sunset.
