Ammon News - The government stated that the consulting tender for the engineering studies and designs for the bridge of the King Abdullah II Street development project (previously known as the Medical City) has been referred.
The information was included in a report on the advancements of the executive program for the Economic Modernization Vision during the third quarter of this year, released on Tuesday, without mentioning the specific company receiving the tender.
Former Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh revealed on August 19 that the government had initiated the process of issuing a comprehensive feasibility study tender for building a 15-kilometer bridge over King Abdullah II Street in Amman, starting from Sweileh and stretching beyond the Marj Al-Hamam region.
The government announced plans to construct a bridge over the current road to create a dedicated lane for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
The completion of the feasibility study for the road (bridge) marks the end of the BRT project cycle, with plans to charge for using the road to solve traffic issues for paying vehicle owners, while still providing the lower road for free to those who do not want to pay.
In the document, the government stated that it has finished testing the rapid transit buses with 48 buses on the (Amman-Zarqa) route, and will add 20 more buses.
