$189 million is the trade balance between Jordan and Qatar in 9 months

Ammon News - The trade balance between Jordan and Qatar increased by 6.1 percent by the end of the third quarter this year, compared to the same period in 2023.

As per the latest statistics from the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority website, today, Sunday, on Qatar's foreign trade, the trade volume between Jordan and Qatar in the first nine months of this year reached approximately 690 million Qatari riyals ($189.5 million), showing an increase from 650 million Qatari riyals ($178.5 million) in the previous year, and 600 million riyals ($164.8 million) in the same period of 2022.

Jordan exports a variety of consumer and food products to Qatar, such as fresh and processed food items, fruits and vegetables, meat, dates, dairy products, poultry, grains, sweets, rice, juices, nuts, oils, pickles, herbs, honey, frozen poultry, eggs, and Jordanian coffee.

Official data shows that the market in Qatar uses over 1,000 tons of fruits and vegetables per day, with around 100,000 tons produced locally each year. The self-sufficiency rate is about 70%, but consumption doubles during events like Ramadan and holidays.

Jordanian consumer goods and products, particularly food items, are highly sought after in the Qatari market due to their popularity among various consumer groups.

These products stand out for their strong competition and affordable prices when compared to similar imports from foreign markets, along with their high quality which satisfies consumer desires.

Qatar sends a range of chemicals to Jordan, including motor oils, sulfuric acid, lutrine, aluminum molds, paraffin, polyethylene, iron rods, various chemical fertilizers, plastic bags, organic fertilizers, and medical solutions. The trade relationship between Jordan and Qatar has been experiencing notable and swift growth for a number of years, driven by Qatar's ongoing rise in imports of Jordanian food and consumer products, which have seen a significant increase especially in the last two years.
