Ammon News - The Jordan Olympic Committee has put in place a "complete medical plan" in case one of its athletes participating in the Paris Olympics is infected with the coronavirus Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) or is suspected of being infected, the committee said on Wednesday after about 40 cases of the virus were detected during the ongoing Olympics.
The committee's media director, Hamza Hassan, confirmed that "no member of the Jordanian team" present at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was infected with the COVID-19.
Hassan told Al-Mamlaka TV that the committee put a plan in the event that any member of the Jordanian team is infected with the COVID-19 at the Paris Olympics, or in the event that any member of the Jordanian delegation is suspected of being infected with the virus.
The plan includes isolating the infected or suspected infected person from the rest of the team and other individuals, providing a designated isolation area that complies with health guidelines, in addition to informing local health authorities, the organizing committee and the Olympic medical committee of the infected case.
In the event that a person infected with the virus returns to Jordan, the Jordan Olympic Committee has put in place procedures in this regard.
On Tuesday, the World Health Organization announced that at least 40 athletes participating in the Olympic Games had tested positive for the COVID-19, but it considered the matter not surprising given the high number of infections around the world.
