Ammon News - The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has dismantled two large-scale drug smuggling operations, confiscating 600,000 narcotic pills and arresting 12 suspects in a series of coordinated raids.
The Public Security Directorate's (PSD) spokesperson revealed that AND operatives intercepted 400,000 pills from two smugglers attempting to transport the illicit cargo into the Kingdom, with plans to re-export them to a neighboring country. Both individuals were apprehended following a high-stakes operation.
In a separate bust, authorities received actionable intelligence about a duo preparing to smuggle narcotics concealed within a cargo vehicle. Detailed surveillance led to their capture in Zarqa Governorate, where 200,000 pills were uncovered in a hidden compartment. The suspects were detained as they approached a border crossing, marking another significant victory in the fight against narcotics trafficking.
The spokesperson also highlighted a strategic crackdown in the central Badia region, targeting high-value suspects and drug networks. Backed by a specialized unit, AND agents detained four individuals, two of whom were classified as highly dangerous, and seized various narcotics, including pills, hashish, and cocaine.
Further operations saw AND officers raiding two adjacent houses in Balqa Governorate, identified as distribution hubs for illegal drugs. The raid resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the seizure of 12,000 pills.
In Tafilah Governorate, a notorious drug dealer was apprehended after a well-planned raid, leading to the seizure of 2,000 pills and six hashish tablets.
Similarly, in Mafraq Governorate, AND agents captured another dealer, uncovering seven hashish tablets and a cache of narcotic pills.
