Rider Shabsough completes attempt to break record for longest distance covered in closed circuit

Ammon News - Jordanian rider Walid Shukri Shabsough has completed his attempt to break the record for the longest distance covered on a mountain motorcycle (Motocross) within a closed circuit over a span of 24 hours. This incredible feat took place at the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Square (Camel Racing Track) in the heart of Wadi Rum, southern Jordan. Markazia Yamaha, a longstanding sponsor of talented Jordanian athletes, extended its full support to Shabsough, propelling him directly toward achieving his dream.

Shabsough, a 27-year-old aircraft maintenance engineer at Joramco Academy and a Yamaha Racing Team Rider, dedicated himself to surpassing the previous record for the longest distance covered in a closed circuit within 24 hours, which stood at 741 km. Not stopping there, Shabsough also clinched a first-of-its-kind record for the longest distance traveled in a closed circuit within 12 hours.

Mounting the Yamaha WR450F mountain motorcycle, Shabsough began his attempt at 6:33 PM on Friday 10 May, culminating precisely 24 hours later. Throughout his endeavor, he completed 167 laps, traversing a staggering distance of 1,032 km within the designated timeframe, with an outstanding 550 km achieved in 12 hours.

Shabsough meticulously documented his entire journey, adhering to the standards outlined by the Guinness World Records team. A comprehensive evidence pack will be submitted for verification by the Guinness World Records team comprising non-stop, 24-hour video footage and still photographs. Two witnesses were always present with a logbook to diligently note every action on the track and with the rider.

On this occasion, Shabsough expressed his delight and emphasized the significance of realizing his dream and imprinting his name onto the global stage with such a remarkable achievement. He extended gratitude to everyone who stood by him in this journey - including Markazia Group, namely Markazia Yamaha and Markazia Toyota, as well as Budget Car Rental - for lending their unwavering support and the necessary assistance and resources at every step.

Shabsough also thanked Joramco Academy, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and government entities such as the Jordan Traffic Institute of the Public Security Directorate for their steadfast backing. The Jordanian rider expressed his aspiration for his documented record to be officially recognized, securing a milestone that Jordan can proudly celebrate, alongside the honor of having his name enshrined in the prestigious Guinness World Records book.
