Ammon News - Head coach of the Jordanian national football team, Jamal Sellami, said on Thursday that the Nashama are entering their quarterfinal showdown against Iraq with a strong desire to extend their impressive run in the Arab Cup, hosted in Qatar.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha, Sellami said the squad’s performance in the group stage, where Jordan secured three consecutive victories, provides important momentum heading into tomorrow’s demanding encounter against Iraq, which he described as a rapidly improving side with a distinct character.
Sellami confirmed the absence of Salim Obeid, who was injured in the recent match against Egypt, expressing hope that he will be available for the later stages should Jordan progress.
Reflecting on the broader vision for the national team, Sellami said that qualifying for the World Cup had been the top priority upon assuming his role, and with that milestone achieved, the focus now shifts toward elevating the team’s performance ahead of the global stage. Petra
