Ammon News - Ghassan Suwaidan, head of the Jordanian Seismological Observatory (JSO), confirmed that the 92 earthquakes monitored by the
observatory in Jordan during the past 6 months are weak earthquakes and result from natural movement of the Earth.
Suwaidan said on Wednesday that there is nothing to worry about, as the strength of the earthquakes recorded in Jordan ranged from 1.7 on the Richter scale to 3.2, and these earthquakes are considered imperceptible to humans.
The observatory monitors and records earthquakes, but this does not mean that citizens feel them, he explained, stressing that publishing the midterm report comes from the standpoint of transparency, disseminating information, and providing information to researchers in Jordan.
He also stated that earthquake rates in Jordan are very normal and within the level recorded in the Kingdom.
The Jordanian Seismological Observatory recorded 419 seismic activities since the beginning of 2024, including 92 local earthquakes throughout the Kingdom and neighboring border areas.
