Ammon News - The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) will initiate an awareness campaign on Tuesday, addressing the use of unlicensed transport apps. The campaign, titled "Licensed App for Safe Transport," is conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

In a statement released on Monday, the Commission highlighted that this campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard investors operating within the transport sector.

The primary objective of the campaign is to educate citizens about the risks associated with using unlicensed transport apps and to promote the advantages of utilizing licensed transport services.

The campaign will underscore several issues with unlicensed transport apps, including the absence of insurance coverage in the event of accidents, the lack of electronic tracking systems, and the use of outdated vehicles. These factors compromise passenger safety and security.

Additionally, unlicensed apps engage in unfair and illegal competition with licensed transport services and contravene Jordanian laws and regulations.

Unlicensed smart transport apps also lack vital information about drivers, as these vehicles are not legally tracked.

Conversely, the campaign will highlight the benefits of using licensed transport apps. All vehicles authorized for passenger transport through smart applications are legal, registered in the Commission’s database, and operate under regulatory compliance. Drivers are legally licensed, meet age requirements, and possess health certificates and good conduct certificates.

The campaign will feature SMS messages, posters, and videos on the Commission's official social media platforms and the websites of key partners. Petra
