Hot, dry air mass to persist until Friday

Ammon News - Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, with most region experiencing dry and hot weather, while the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see sweltering conditions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in it’s forecast for Thursday and Friday.

Additionally, the weather service has issued warnings regarding the dangers of direct sunlight exposure, the risk of forest fires, and the hazard of leaving children in closed vehicles, even briefly.

On Saturday, the impact of the hot air mass will diminish slightly, resulting in a small drop in temperatures. The weather will be relatively hot over the mountain highlands and plains, while the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will still be hot. Winds will be northwesterly moderate, occasionally active.

Sunday will see a further dip in mercury levels, bringing them closer to seasonal averages. Therefore, the weather will be moderate over the highlands and hot in other regions, with northwesterly moderate winds, active at times.

Today’s maximum and minimum temperatures in eastern Amman range between 24-37 degrees Celsius, in western Amman 22-35C, in the northern highlands 21-32C, in the Sharah highlands 19-33C, and in the Gulf of Aqaba 27-45 degrees Celsius. Petra
