Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A military officer in the rank of Major died Wednesday, and 10 others were injured when a bus carrying military personnel crashed on the desert highway near the town of Al Hassa (50 km south of Tafileh).

Civil Defense and Public Security cadres rushed to the scene of the accident, and transferred the injured to Prince Zayd Military Hospital for treatment.

Spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Major Muhammad Khatib, said in a press statement that the accident was caused by a sudden lane change by the bus driver, causing the bus to crash into the median and lost control of the vehicle.

PSD urges drivers, especially on outer highways, to take precautions especially that the area often experiences low visibility and sudden sand storms.
