Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jeeran, the largest Arab user generated content online community announced on Monday March 22nd that it will acquire Talasim, a first of its kind online comedy community for the Middle East.

Mr. Omar Koudsi, CEO of Jeeran, stated, “Talasim’s team will add important value to Jeeran as the up and coming web startup will become one of Jeeran’s main channels to target youth in the region. This is a team acquisition as much as it is a content acquisition. You rarely find web start-ups in the region that have succeeded in creating a profitable well trafficked site in such a short period of time”.

Laith Zraikat, Chief Product Officer of Jeeran, stated, “We look forward to having Zeid and Sabri and their team running some of our products with the same startup and entrepreneurial spirit they implemented to run Talasim.”

Talasim’s founders will be responsible for handling various emerging products at Jeeran. Additionally, they will be in charge of the innovation and creation of new products that will add further creativity to Jeeran.

Sabri Hakim, Co-founder and Business Development Director of Talasim, stated, "At Talasim, our goal was to widen the horizons of expression in the Arab world, and we've brought forth comedy as a means to convey it. Today, Jeeran and Talasim unite their strength, signifying the beginning of a much larger vision that is coming to life, and we're once again super charged to execute it."

Zeid Koudsi, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Talasim, said, “It is a great step for us to be included in the first actual acquisition from the largest user generated online community. Jeeran saw the potential in Talasim from the day it was establishedthey incubated and invested in Talasim, and now it’s time to join Jeeran’s team.”

In 2009, Seedcamp, a programme created to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community, selected Talasim along with five other winners across Europe, after an intense week of mentoring in London by a diverse network of mentors, investors and entrepreneurs. Each of the six winning teams received a €50k investment from Seedcamp and active support for three months to help develop their respective companies and products.
