British Ambassador welcomes home Chevening Scholars

Ammon News - The British Ambassador to Jordan, Philip Hall, hosted an Iftar on 2 April and welcomed back Chevening Scholars returning to Jordan after their studies in the UK.
The Chevening Scholarship is the UK’s flagship scholarship scheme. It supports future leaders by offering talented young people fully funded scholarships for postgraduate study in the UK, enabling them to enhance their skills and build expertise in areas vital for countries’ futures.
The Ambassador congratulated the Jordanian scholars on the successful completion of their studies.
He said: “The Jordanian Chevening Scholars of 2023 are an exceptionally talented group, determined to contribute to Jordan’s future by applying their learning in a range of fields including politics, education, digital marketing, conflict and development, business, health and architecture. Alumni of British universities make invaluable contributions to government, business and civil society throughout the world, including in Jordan. We wish the returning Chevening Scholars of 2023 every success in Jordan. We encourage them and all Alumni of British universities to join the British Council’s “Alumni UK" network.”
Background
The Chevening award is the UK government’s global scholarship scheme. Since 1983, Chevening has helped to build bridges between the UK and more than 160 different countries and territories, supporting the education and development of future leaders, influencers and decision-makers across the world.
Chevening’s over 50,000-strong alumni network includes 18 current or former heads of state or government. It has promoted better government, economic development and better business environments worldwide by funding scholars who have gone on to build companies, become directors and hold senior positions in global organisations.
