JDF's sales reach JD78.5 million in 2023

Ammon News - The sales of the Jordanian Duty Free Shops (JDF) increased by 20.8% in 2023 to reach about JD78.25 million, compared to JD64.99 in 2022.

The JDF's sales collections, according to its annual financial report for 2023, which Ammon reviewed, showed that the sales of departures came in first place among the sales shares collected in 2023, with JD68.757 million, while the sales of arrivals recorded JD6.281 million, and the Boulevard's sales were about JD2.955 million. As for sales at Aqaba Gate - Al Nafoura Mall, they reached JD525,706 thousand during 2023.

During 2023, duty-free shops paid to the public treasury JD11,699 million as a fee for public treasury services, at a rate of 15% of the total sales achieved, according to the exclusivity renewal agreement, which obligates the company to pay a monthly services allowance of 13.5% and a monthly customs services allowance of 1.5% of its total monthly sales achieved in Jordanian duty-free shops, which are not subject to the same fees, taxes and customs applied in the customs territory as operational costs, after the company was paying a monthly services allowance of 10.5%.

It is noteworthy that the JDF’s revenues from rental contracts for Al Nafoura Mall were recorded at the end 2023, approximately JD362.75 thousand, after the company capitalized the project located in Aqaba and it was opened in mid-August 2023, so that the company signed 38 contracts with different tenants, and these contracts included different permissions and conditions periods.

The occupancy rate in Al Nafoura Mall - Aqaba during the past year reached approximately 76.5% of the mall's area.

It is noteworthy that the JDF’s net profits decreased to JD7.6 million in 2023, compared to JD8.4 million for 2022.

The JDF’s total operating profit amounted to JD25.5 million, compared to JD22.6 million for the comparison period.
