The full statement by U.S. Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Yael Lempert:
I strongly condemn the January 28 attack against American forces in northeast Jordan close to the Syria border.
Together with the U.S. Embassy community, I mourn the loss of three U.S. service members and pray for their families and the swift recovery of those injured in the unmanned aerial system attack.
Our fallen service members put their lives on the line to defend the United States and to ensure the safety of our allies and partners in the fight against terrorism. Their sacrifice will be forever honored by this Embassy.
The U.S.-Jordan partnership is a bedrock of stability and security in this region, and our strong bilateral security cooperation is a pillar of our relationship.
We are committed to continuing to work closely with our Jordanian partners to help address Jordan’s border security challenges, and in support of our common pursuit of peace and security.
