Ammon News - Jordan is set to experience a shift in weather conditions on Monday, as temperatures drop and skies turn partly to mostly cloudy, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

Anticipated precipitation in the form of occasional rain showers is expected in the northern and central regions, with limited areas in the eastern and southwestern parts of the kingdom also likely to see rainfall. In particular, heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and hail, is forecast for the northern and western central regions. There is even a slight chance of snow mixed with rain over the elevated mountainous areas, though this is expected to be short-lived and of minimal impact. Winds are forecast to be moderate southwest, intermittently strengthening.

The weather department has issued a warning regarding potential flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the north and central regions, including the Dead Sea vicinity. Furthermore, reduced visibility due to fog and low-hanging clouds, especially over mountainous elevations, poses a hazard. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions in areas experiencing rainfall.

As Tuesday approaches, a slight decrease in temperatures is anticipated, with readings falling below the general seasonal averages by approximately (4-5) degrees Celsius. Very cold conditions are expected to prevail, accompanied by partly to mostly cloudy skies. Rain showers are forecasted in the northern regions, with intermittent heavy rainfall expected for short durations. There is a slim possibility of light rain in the southwestern regions for a brief period.

Meteorological analyses indicate the potential for snow showers over high mountainous elevations on Tuesday, occasionally mixed with rain. The winds are projected to be active southwest, with strong gusts at times, leading to the stirring of dust in the southern and eastern parts of the kingdom.

Wednesday's forecast maintains very cold conditions with partly to mostly cloudy skies, particularly in the north and central regions. Intermittent rain showers are expected in the northern regions and select areas of the central regions. High mountainous elevations may witness snow showers for limited periods, occasionally mixed with rain. In the evening and night, the eastern region may experience rain showers. Winds are expected to be west to southwest, moderate in speed, with occasional periods of increased activity.

Today’s peak temperatures will be between 10 and 8 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 4C at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have moderate weather, with highs of 21C and lows of 13C. Petra
