Work underway to evacuate 63 Jordanians from Gaza, Foreign Ministry says

Ammon News - The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Saturday that work is under way to evacuate 63 Jordanian citizens from the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

They were allowed by the crossing authorities to leave through the Rafah crossing border to Egypt.

The Ministry's spokesperson, Sufyan Qudah said that a team from the Jordanian embassy in Egypt, which has been present on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing since the beginning of the evacuation operations of Jordanians from Gaza to oversee the operations, received the Jordanian evacuees, provided them with the necessary assistance and medical care, and transported them to the port of Nuweiba and to Cairo on buses provided by the embassy, Qudah noted.

The number of Jordanian citizens residing and present in the Gaza Strip, who have been listed on the database since the beginning of the raging war on the Strip, has reached 1,153 people to date; 666 of whom have been evacuated, Qudah added.
