Ammon News - Jordan is bracing for a series of consecutive low-pressure systems this week, accompanied by cold and moist air masses, leading to a substantial drop in temperatures.

The Jordan Meteorological Department report indicated that the prevailing weather conditions will transition from cold and partly cloudy to intermittently cloudy throughout the day.

The northern regions of the Kingdom are expected to experience rain showers during the afternoon, gradually extending to the central and southwestern areas. These anticipated showers are forecast to be of light to moderate intensity, accompanied by westward winds of moderate to brisk speed.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding potential road hazards, emphasizing the risk of slippery conditions in areas with precipitation. Reduced horizontal visibility is also anticipated over mountainous terrains and plains due to fog and clouds at ground level. Additionally, there is a risk of diminished visibility caused by dust stirred up by active winds in desert regions.

On Wednesday, the weather is predicted to remain cold, with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions persisting. Rain is expected to continue in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom, and portions of the southwestern regions. Morning rainfall in the northern areas may be heavy at times, with westward winds of moderate speed occasionally intensifying. Rainfall probabilities are anticipated to diminish in the evening, with a gradual reduction in cloud cover. Fog formation is expected over mountainous areas and plains during the night.

Thursday's forecast indicates foggy and partly cloudy conditions, with cold temperatures prevailing in most areas. There is a potential for light rain showers in the north, with moderate southwesterly winds during the day. Cloud cover is projected to increase gradually, transitioning the weather from partly to mostly cloudy. Late-night rain showers are forecasted for the northern, central, and southwestern regions, accompanied by northwesterly winds of moderate speed, occasionally intensifying.

Heading into Friday, the Kingdom is poised to experience the impact of a very cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system centered over Cyprus. Consequently, a slight decrease in temperatures is anticipated, with cold, cloudy, and rainy conditions prevailing in most areas. Heavy rainfall, thunder, and hail are expected in certain regions, posing the risk of flooding in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea region.

Today’s peak temperatures will be between 13 and 11 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 5C at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have moderate weather, with highs of 23C and lows of 12C. Petra
