Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, said on Monday that the European Union has a major role in the security of the region, and Jordan will work with it to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and end tensions.

Before the start of talks involving Arab foreign ministers regarding the war on the Gaza Strip on the sidelines of the meeting of the European Union Ministerial Council for Foreign Affairs in Brussels, Safadi added that Israel, with its current policy, is destroying the future of peace and security in the region, and the only solution is the two-state solution.

"Today we expect a clear dialogue and we hope that we will reach a comprehensive conviction that more killing will only lead to endangering security and peace not only in the region, but also international security and peace, and we want to work together to achieve a ceasefire," Safadi said.

"The entire region is suffering from a lot of tensions, and what we want is to work together to end all these tensions on foundations that guarantee security and peace for all and respect for the sovereignty of all countries," he stressed.

Safadi called for the EU to work to stop and put an end to this hatred and violence and move together side by side towards a plan to implement the two-state solution and the process, which must be in this context.

"This war will not lead us to any peace, and Israel has not enjoyed any security as long as Palestinian rights are not recognized," Safadi stated.
