Ammon News - Minister of Culture, Haifa Najjar, launched activities of a conference to discuss recommendations of the Coalition of Local Communities for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on issues of women’s economic and social rights in Jordan.

Najjar referred to Israel's heinous aggression and violations of human, women and children’s rights against Palestinians in Gaza, noting the world's inaction in this regard.

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Najjar noted importance of innovation in building awareness on human and women’s rights, pointing to Gazan women's suffering, which has an enduring impact.

Najjar stressed that Jordan is "advanced" in citizen, women, and children’s rights, seeks more achievements by launching "interactive democratic" societal dialogues, and continues to work for reforms and "more comprehensive" development with women "at its heart".

Najjar added that Jordan is open to dialogue and is determined to sustaining its voice, which represents justice and human values.

Meanwhile, the coalition's regional director, Amira Khamis, reviewed its projects to support and empower women.

Khamis also noted that Jordan is making "rapid" progress to develop laws and legislation related to women's rights. Petra
