Ammon News - Head of the Jordanian National Centre for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC), Dr. Adel Belbisi, confirmed on Sunday that the most common diseases spread during the winter season, the most prominent of which are respiratory, especially viral, and the most widespread are flu (influenza) and syncytial virus diseases, and in small proportions, the Corona virus, indicating that this is normal.

The peak spread and incidence of seasonal influenza and respiratory viruses is from November-February, when an increase in cases of RSV infection was observed, especially in children, and there are cases that require admission to hospitals, Belbisi said in an interview with Sabah Noon on Radio Noon.

The rate of infection with the Coronavirus does not exceed 2-3% of the samples tested, about 35% with seasonal influenza, and about 22% with syncytial virus, he added.

Belbisi also stated that the new mutant of Corona, which he called “J-N-1,” is an intriguing mutant that is part of the Omicron strain and the most widespread and feared among people, and it carries the same symptoms: sore throat, fever, cough, and general fatigue.

He stressed that the new mutant does not exist in Jordan, according to the results of tests on “positive” infected samples.
