Ammon News - The Jordanian Seismological Observatory (JSO) confirmed that the Israeli bombing of Gaza has caused artificial seismic activity in Gaza and its surrounding areas since the beginning of the war, but none of these aftershocks reached Jordan due to the long distance between the two regions.
In a statement to Ammon, JSO's President Ghassan Sweidan, said that explosives and large shells cause seismic activity, but it is -artificial and not natural-, and that they can distinguish between natural and artificial seismic movement when recording readings on the Richter scale.
Sweidan stated that no additional or abnormal seismic activity was recorded in the Kingdom during the past few days, and that what was recorded was natural activity due to the movement of the earth and its intensity did not exceed 2.5 degrees on the Richter scale.
He pointed out that social networking sites sometimes spread rumors about the occurrence or feeling of seismic movement, and this is not always true.
