Ammon News - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply reported issuing 3,301 violations during the past ten months, reflecting a rigorous effort to monitor market practices and protect consumers.
In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Tuesday, Ministry Spokesperson Yanal Barmawi detailed the violations, revealing that 2,763 cases involved retailers failing to display prices. Additionally, 328 violations were for exceeding price ceilings on essential goods, including chicken; 79 involved charging above advertised prices; 55 related to non-compliance with discount and promotional regulations; 17 for not providing large-sized bread; and 59 were categorized as other various offenses.
Since the start of the year until the end of October, the ministry conducted 4,455 inspection tours, amassing a total of 72,797 visits to commercial establishments. Barmawi also noted that the ministry responded to 1,295 consumer complaints over the same period, addressing various concerns related to pricing and service standards.
The ministry’s inspection efforts aim to ensure compliance with trade regulations, protect consumers from unjust pricing practices, and enhance transparency in the marketplace.
