Army: Clashes with drug smugglers from Syria end after 14 hours

Ammon News - Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, affirmed that the armed forces used all capabilities and resources, to prevent infiltration and smuggling operations and confront them with force, to preserve the security and stability of the nation and the safety of its citizens, and to pursue anyone who intends to tamper with its capabilities.
This came during Huneiti's follow-up of the course of the specific operation that took place on the front of the Eastern Military Region Monday evening, which resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotic drugs and weapons and the arrest of a group of smugglers coming from Syrian territory to Jordanian territory.
Huneiti stressed that the armed forces are continuing and resolute in preventing these operations, confronting all forms of threats on the border fronts, and pursuing the armed groups behind them, to protect the homeland.
Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti appreciated the efforts made by the Border Guards, praising the high morale in carrying out the duties assigned to them professionally in order to preserve the borders of the Kingdom.
Jordanian border guard forces clashed on Monday with armed groups since dawn and arrested nine suspects, and the clash ended after 14 hours.
