Domestic revenue up at JD5.8B in 8 months

26-10-2023 02:59 PM

Ammon News - Domestic revenue for the first eight months of the current year jumped to JD5.807 billion, which is JD387.6 million more than the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Finance's monthly bulletin, this increase was due to the rise in tax revenues by around JD177.6 million and non-tax revenues by approximately JD210 million. With this increase, current expenses were covered at a rate of 92.1 percent.

The climb in tax revenues is due to a JD215.9 million incline in income and profit tax revenues as a result of improvements in taxpayer compliance.

Between January and August 2023, the central government/budget spent a total of JD7.032 billion, which is higher than the JD6.836 billion spent in the same period last year. The rise in spending was due to current expenditures going up by JD378.7 million.

Moreover, the fiscal deficit decreased to JD1.189 billion from JD1.291 billion in the same timeframe in 2022.
