Ammon News - The US Embassy in Amman warned its citizens in Jordan, calling on them to avoid crowds and large protest sites or move away from them quickly, and to turn around and search for an alternative route around any road closures.

The embassy said that regularly scheduled consular services (including passport passbacks) have been canceled for Wednesday after 12:00 p.m.

"The U.S. Embassy in Amman is aware of calls for a demonstration at the U.S. Embassy on Wednesday beginning as early as noon," the embassy said in a statement.

The embassy stressed that US citizens should expect to see a heavy police presence around the embassy and possible traffic obstruction, advising them to avoid large crowds and protests or move away from them quickly, and to turn around and search for an alternative route around any road closures.

The embassy called its citizens to monitor their emails for information regarding rescheduling consular services.
