IT use is right for everyone, TRC says

Ammon News - Jordan joins the world in celebrating the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, which falls on May 17 of each year.

CEO of the Telecommunications Regulation Commission (TRC), Bassam Sarhan, said in a press release in the occasion of World Telecommunications Day:" Different countries of the world celebrate on May 17 of every year the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, which is the day that coincides with the anniversary of the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1865.”

He said that most of the least developed countries face difficulties in providing broadband Internet access, as there are a large number of people still without Internet access, and this digital divide remains on of the most important barriers to a secure and prosperous future for humanity.

"The unequal division of opportunities to access and contribute to information and knowledge networks, and to benefit from the development-enhancing capabilities of information and communication technology, is one of the world's most prominent concerns at the present time", he added.

He continuing: "The use of all means of communication and information technology has become a basic right for every individual in society."
