Jordan will continue 'historic' role in protecting Jerusalem's sanctities-Khalayleh

Ammon News - First Deputy Lower House Speaker, MP Ahmad Khalayleh, stressed the importance of strengthening resilient global dynamics, especially in light of the complex crises ravaging many regions across the world.

Khalayleh, who is heading Jordan's parliamentary delegation participating in the conference, dubbed: "Enhancing Multilateralism in Changing Global Dynamics," which is currently being held in Turkey, referred to the world's suffering from Covid-19 pandemic-induced impacts, in securing food needs and medicine, which required collective global action.

Noting Jordan's early awareness of this issue, he said His Majesty King Abdullah II launched the concept of (resetting globalization), aimed to achieving worldwide integration to make safety and prosperity of all people a fundamental goal.

On the MiddleEast conflict, he referred to Israel's continued belligerence against the Palestinian people and their Islamic and Christian sanctities, referring to Israel's rejection of all relevant international resolutions that affirm Palestinians' right to self-determination and Jordan's sovereignty over these sanctities through Hashemite custodianship.

Jordan, he noted, will continue its "historic" role in protecting Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, stressing that Jordanians and Palestinians will firmly support Hashemite custondianship.

"Jordan will not accept any attempt to Judaize the Palestinian land and change legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem," he said, calling on the international community to be aware of the threats posed by Israeli practices, which would ignite the region's tension and violence.

Jordan, he said, remained a model for a safe and stable state, believing in the values of democracy, and a "pioneering and leading" country in fighting extremism and terrorism.

Jordan also maintained aid and support for refugees and received millions, as the last wave was from Syria, referring to the failure of the international community to fulfill its moral and international obligations towards refugees and host countries.

Calling on countries to fulfill their duties towards refugees, he stressed that Jordan will remain a symbol of security and stability in the region.

He also noted the Kingdom will continue its national projects launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in conjunction with the Kingdom's bicentennial, aimed to expanding base of popular participation in decision-making by empowering women and youth, and overcoming related difficulties to enter partisan and parliamentary work and contribute to the formation of governments in the future.
