Japanese envoy visits JTI Jordan factory

Ammon News - A delegation of the Japanese Embassy in Jordan, headed by Jiro Okuyama, the new Japanese ambassador to the Kingdom, visited the Japanese global tobacco company (JTI) as part of his introductory meetings to Japanese facilities and investments here in the kingdom.

With the Japanese government being the main partner, JTI is regarded as a vital Japanese investment in the country.

Okuyama and his accompanying delegation were toured by Ignacio Aguilera, the JTI Jordan General Manager.

The visit shed light on the production and operational processes, and the latest technologies utilized by JTI Jordan factory.

"With this visit coming shortly after his recent appointment as a representative of the Japanese government in Jordan, we were honored today with His Excellency Ambassador Jiro Okuyama and the accompanying delegation. The visit indicates the embassy's commitment to support Japanese investments, and his Excellency's keen interest in direct contact and communication with the company," Aguilera said during the visit.

He also underlined the crucial role of cooperation and partnership between Jordan and Japan which is visibly seen in the Japanese investments and facilities here, setting the facility as the best example of investment cooperation between the two countries.

JTI Jordan is considered one of the largest foreign investments in the Kingdom.

JTI was formed in 1999 and since then, has been a world leader in the tobacco industry.

Today, they have more than 45,000 employees driving their success all over the world, with more than 230 employees in the Jordanian market, 95% of whom are Jordanians.

Investing in people as a cornerstone of growth, the company adopts a unique approach to the work and employment system, during which it received prestigious international awards in the field.

JTI also provides an all-inclusive plan to sharpern their focus on social responsibility that includes sponsoring local charitable and humanitarian centers and associations, as well as many special humanitarian programs and sustainable initiatives.
