His Majesty King Abdullah II, during his meeting with the UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, last September, stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities towards countries hosting refugees, especially in light of the challenges of food security.

While Grandi praised the great role Jordan plays in hosting and providing humanitarian services to refugees, stressing UNHCR's commitment to supporting Jordan's efforts and continuing coordination and cooperation with the Kingdom in a way that contributes to mitigating the effects of the Syrian refugee crisis.

The volume of funding for Jordan's response plan to the Syrian crisis amounted to $492 million, out of $2.28 billion, or 21%, as of mid-November, according to the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zina Touqan, indicated that the international community's retreat from supporting refugees directly affected the value of foreign aid provided to the Kingdom as a result of the consequences of the political and economic crises the world is witnessing.
