Cabinet approves civil status draft law

Ammon News - A Cabinet session, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, on Sunday approved a draft law amending Civil Status Law for 2022.

The draft law comes to address loopholes in practices arising from altering data contained in the civil status records to expand and extend effect of judicial ruling to plaintiff and his/her additional family members.

The Council of Ministers also approved an amended bylaw of the administrative organization system for Independent Election Commission (IEC) for 2022, aimed to enable IEC create new organizational units, in light of the recent constitutional amendments related to women empowerment and establish an organizational unit to manage projects and follow up on IEC's international relations as part of its tasks and powers.

The bylaw aims to promote women's political participation and enable their engagement in public life.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom's support for the UNICEF Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action, which was recently launched within the activities of the 27th Conference of the Parties to Climate Change in Egypt.

The Cabinet approved recommendations of the settlement and reconciliation committee to settle pending tax status of 542 companies and taxpayers with due financial obligations, in accordance with provisions of the Income Tax Law and General Sales Tax Law.

The Council approved the committee's recommendations to settle outstanding claims between 21 taxpayers and/or violators, and Jordan Customs Department (JCD), who must pay the full due amounts with any fees, taxes or expenses within a two month-period from the date of this decision.

On the other hand, the Cabinet decided to appoint Dr. Zaid Mohammad Hussein Nawaisah as Secretary General of the Ministry of Government Communications.
