Ammon News - Following the nomination of five deputies—Fawaz Zoubi, Zainab Badol, Muhammad Shatnawi, Firas Sawair, and Ahmed Safadi—to lead the council, which convened on Sunday, three deputies announced their resignation from running for the position of president.
The first to leave was MP Muhammad Shatnawi, who complied with the request to leave made by the Justice Bloc, to which he belongs, in order to preserve the time of the parliament. He hoped that whoever won the presidency would lead the march and the council in a way that would increase the king and the people's confidence in the council.
As for MP Zainab Badoul, she said that she was running for speaker of the council in the interest of women, highlighting her involvement in the council and her political activities in the hopes that the council would appoint women to chair future sessions.
After hearing His Majesty, the King's speech on national unity in the throne speech, MP Fawaz Zoubi announced that he was the first to declare his candidacy for the presidency of the House of Representatives. However, in order to respect the time and democracy of the parliament, he renounced his candidacy in favor of his colleagues.
Both MP Firas Sawair and MP Ahmad Safadi are still vying for the presidency.
