Greater Jerash Municipality selected among 10 municipalities to be supported by USAID

Ammon News - Chief of Party for USAID Municipal Support Program, Linda Tubaishat, said the Greater Jerash Municipality has been selected to be among the 10 municipalities targeted by the Municipal Support Project in Jordan.

In a meeting with Jerash Mayor Ahmad Hashem Atoum, Tubaishat said that the selection was the result of a clear vision presented by the mayor and a real insistence on the directions of the municipality in line with the objectives of the five-year program, which aims at improving the level of services and supporting its economic development in a way that clearly reflects on citizen, and creates an appropriate investment environment.

Tubaishat added that the project relies mainly on the partnership with the private sector and the partnership between the targeted municipalities, in a way that more than one municipality in the governorate can be involved in participatory projects, whether in investment or service fields.

She noted that the program allows the municipality to transfer knowledge and train cadres of neighboring municipalities.

She pointed out that the first meeting will be held to announce the launch of the project in the next few days.

Atoum said that the objectives of the program are aligned with the directions of the municipality, which has prioritized upgrading and improving the level of services.

Atoum highlighted key projects that the municipality seeks to conclude with the private sector, at a cost of JD15 million, which contribute to the employment of a large number of members of the local community and provide jobs for various segments.
