Ammon News - Police apprehended earlier Sunday a suspect in the stray bullet death of a 12-year-old boy in the northern governorate of Jerash, a spokesperson for the Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement.

On October 20, the Jerash Governorate police were notified that a child was struck by a stray bullet near his residence and later died in the hospital.

An investigation team gathered information and apprehended anyone who had been hosting a celebration or social event at the time of the incident where some individuals may have engaged in "festive firing."

Forensic ballistics examinations linked a gun to the bullet that killed the young boy after police zeroed in on a prime suspect and seized weapons.

The PSD warned the public against engaging in "festive firing" to avoid the death or injury of innocent people, emphasizing that the department will continue to track down suspects in such cases and bring them to justice.
