Ammon News - China has officially started construction of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen high-speed railway in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay area.
The proportion of bridges and tunnels on the entire line is 98%, of which the Pearl River Estuary Tunnel with a total length of 13.69 km is the deepest undersea tunnel in China. The maximum depth under the water is 115 meters, and the maximum water pressure is 1.06 MPa, according to the Chinese newspaper, "The People".
The tunnel project is located at the mouth of the Pearl River between Dongguan and Guangzhou, and construction began in July 2020, as the pre-launched project of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen high-speed railway.
Two domestic specially designed shield machines "Shenjiang 1" and "Shenjiang 2" are involved in the propulsion and construction of this super-project. Among them, "Shenjiang 1" is painted in the shape of the awakened lion, and "Xinjiang 2" is in the shape of a sea dragon, which belong to the Guangdong culture.
The Shenzhen-Jiangmen high-speed railway starts from Shenzhen, extending westward through Dongguan, Guangzhou, Zhongshan and Jiangmen. The main line is 116 kilometers long, has 7 stations, and has a construction period of five and a half years.
