King receives annual report of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Sunday, the annual report of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission for the year 2021.

His Majesty, while receiving the report from the Chairman of the Commission's Council, Dr. Muhannad Hijazi, stressed the importance of focusing on witness protection to encourage citizens to play their role in reporting any suspicion of corruption.

His Majesty pointed to the need to continue making efforts to develop the work of the authority and improve its monitoring tools, review international reports and address any observations to improve Jordan's classification.

For his part, Hijazi reviewed the most prominent achievements of the authority mentioned in the report, which included the recovery of about 142 million dinars of funds resulting from acts of corruption, directly or indirectly.

According to the report, a total of 197 investigative files were referred to the Public Integrity and Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, and the success rate of investigation files in criminal cases before the courts and referred by the commission was 83%.

Hijazi referred to the commission's launch of the National Integrity Index (NII), which measures the extent to which 100 entities and institutions comply with national integrity and anti-corruption standards, pointing to the higher diploma and master's programs in "governance and anti-corruption", which were launched by the commission in cooperation with the University of Jordan.

Head of the Royal Hashemite Court, Youssef Hassan Al-Issawi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty, Dr. Jaafar Hassan attended the meeting.
