QAIA welcomes 5.8 mln passengers in 9 months

Ammon News - The Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 5,835,186 passengers (PAX) during the first nine months of 2022, an increase of 89.6 percent compared with 2021, according to statistics released on Thursday by Airport International Group, the airport's operator.

In contrast, QAIA registered 51,463 aircraft movements (ACM), and 45,935 tons of cargo, marking a 63.2 % and 9.7 % increases, respectively, in comparison with the same period of last year, the data showed.

In September, QAIA handled 696,096 PAX and 5,614 ACM, signaling increases of 24.8 percent and 6.6 percent respectively, compared to the recorded month in 2021.

In addition, air freight traffic in march amounted to 5,557 tonnes, a 13.4 percent decrease compared with 2021.

"We continue to build on our close cooperation with several stakeholders to expand our network of airlines and destinations, which was evident during the month of September with the arrival of the first direct flights of Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa, which expanded our access to the African continent, and strengthened diversity in the travel options available to our passengers through Jordan's main air gateway to the world," said Airport International Group CEO, Nicolas Claude.
