Armed Forces foil infiltration, drug smuggling attempt

Ammon News - Northern Military Zone troops, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department, Monday morning thwarted an attempt to infiltrate the frontier and smuggle in a large amount of drugs.

An official source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) said that the rules of engagement were applied when the smugglers tried to breach the border, leading to the injury of one and the rest fled deep into Syrian territory.

It said 818,000 Captagon drug pills were seized, in addition to a firearm and a quantity of ammunition, which were transferred to the competent authorities.

The source vowed that the armed forces will deal with all force and firmness with any infiltration or smuggling attempt, protect the border and prevent those who try to tamper with national security.
