Government makes daylight saving time permanent

Ammon News - In a session headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tawfiq Kreishan on Wednesday, the cabinet decided to make daylight saving time permanent.
The decision comes after an extensive study conducted by the government to determine the feasibility of fixing work in summer time, which showed that continuing work at this time allows benefiting from the longest possible time of daylight hours.
Regarding school students, the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Wajih Owais, decided to set school hours at 8:15 am, with the first class starting at 8:30 am, while all schools will open their doors to receive students at exactly 8:15 am. 7:45 am; This is to allow parents, especially employees, to deliver their children to schools before the start of the working hours of ministries and public institutions, which start at 8:30 in the morning.
With regard to university students, it is left to the university administrations to determine what they see fit, taking into account the requirements of the public interest, bearing in mind that universities start mainly after eight o'clock in the morning.
According to the decision, working hours, dates and periods of school classes will start from Sunday, October 30th, and continue until April 2nd, 2023.
About (60%) of the countries of the world do not change their timing during the year, while (40%) of the countries adopt the system of changing the timing during specific times at the beginning of summer and winter.
