YU president, USAID official discuss pre-service teacher education

Ammon News - President of Yarmouk University (YU) Islam Massad and Chief of Party for the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Pre-Service Teacher Education Program in Jordan Cameron Mirza met on Wednesday to discuss the Pre-Service Teacher Education Program's latest developments.

Massad emphasized the university's commitment to further collaboration with USAID to implement the program, noting that the university seeks to make administrative and regulatory changes to the program in order for it to be accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.

The first cohort of 101 students has recently graduated from the program, he noted, adding that the Faculty of Education is collaborating with USAID to prepare more classrooms and laboratories to accommodate the growing number of students, as well as holding training courses for the program's supervisors.

Mirza emphasized the university's contribution to the success of the program and expressed hope for future scientific and cultural collaboration.

The university is implementing the USAID-funded Pre-Service Teacher Education Program in collaboration with the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Education, Queen Rania Teacher Academy, Civil Service Bureau, and Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions.
