Jordan welcomes killing of Taliban leader

Ammon News - The Foreign Ministry Tuesday welcomed the announcement by the U.S. that the leader of Al Qaeda organisation, Ayman Zawahiri, was killed in Afghanistan yesterday.

The official spokesman for the Ministry, Ambassador Haitham Abu Alfoul, said that the killing of the organisation's leader represents a "stern message" that there is no safe place for terrorism and terrorists.

The Ministry added that terrorism is a common enemy and that Jordan works with its partners in combating terrorism and countering terrorist organisations that target innocents and destabilise security and stability.

Abu Alfoul noted the importance of the continued concerted efforts of the international community to eradicate terrorism from its roots.
