Jordan sees 9 Covid-19 deaths, 5,417 cases within week-MoH

Ammon News - The 30th epidemiological week spanning from July 23 to 29 saw 9 Covid-19 fatalities and 5,417 virus cases, marking an 14% infection-related increase , compared to a week earlier.

With regard to testing, 36,256 PCR tests were conducted over the targeted week, compared with 40, 380, marking a 10% drop, with 14.8% positivity rate, compared with 11.8%, a week earlier, according to the media statement issued by the Ministry of Health.

To date, there are currently 4,539 active Covid-19 cases countrywide, compared with 3,896 a week earlier, with a 17% increase.

Moreover, the ministry said number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 56, compared with 52 a week earlier.

On the national vaccination program, the ministry pointed out that the number of shots administered during the 30th week stood at 1, 862 for the first jab, 1, 668 for the second, and 1, 291 for the booster dose, totaling 4,811 shots, compared with 5,381 shots a week earlier, marking a 11 percent drop.

The total number of first dose recipients stands at 4,810,561, at a 75.2 percent rate for the 18yrs and over target group and 4,548,793 for the second jab, at a 71 percent rate, and 671,544 for the booster shot, according to the briefing.

Regarding immunization for the 12-17 age group, 237,946 received the first dose at a 25 percent rate, and double jabbed recipients reached 202,912 at a 20 percent rate. Meanwhile, among the 5-11 years age group, 302 and 223 children received the first and second doses, respectively.
